Veggie Week was full of color, curiosity, and hands-on learning. The children explored vegetables in so many different ways, and the theme carried through every part of our day.

Throughout the week, we worked on coloring pages of:

• Carrots

• Potatoes

• Broccoli

• Tomatoes

Coloring became a daily routine the children looked forward to. While they colored, we talked aabout:

• How each vegetable grows

• The colors and shapes we see on the outside and inside

• The foods we make with each one

• Their favorite vegetables at home

• Which vegetables they want to try next

The kids loved naming foods they recognized, including:

• Mashed potatoes

• Broccoli cheddar soup

• Vegetable curries and sabzis

• Mixed veggie pulav from our lunch menu

By the end of the week, the children were:

• Asking for vegetables as their snack

• Requesting extra servings during lunch

• Talking with each other about “healthy foods”

• Making connections between their art and real-life meals

We also spent extra time on art and sensory activities. The children enjoyed:

• Veggie stamping with real vegetables and washable paint

• Making broccoli art using a bumpy, textured technique

• Exploring the shapes and patterns made by different vegetables

• Feeling the difference between smooth, crunchy, soft, and firm veggies

During story time, we read books all about vegetables, gardening, and food. The children had fun:

• Pointing out vegetables they recognized

• Predicting what would happen next in the stories

• Talking about vegetables from their cultures and home kitchens

• Sharing little moments about family meals

A big highlight was the new veggie cutting play set in the mud kitchen. It became an instant favorite, and the kids spent so much time:

• Pretending to chop and slice pretend veggies

• “Cooking” meals for their friends

• Setting up little kitchens and restaurants

• Practicing sharing and turn-taking

• Mixing pretend veggies together and naming their dishes

Vegetable Week brought so much joy and discovery. The kids explored new foods, practiced fine motor skills, and built confidence through hands-on play. It was a wonderful week full of learning, laughter, and proud little moments.
